Civil Engineer - Solar

Our Chicago Energy practice is looking for Civil EITs with 3 or more years of experience to join our Solar team. As a critical member of the team, you will perform a variety of civil engineering tasks, supervise team members, manage projects, and collaborate with team members. You will receive both on-the-job and formal training as well as mentorship, camaraderie, and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions. 





  • Due Diligence, develop planning, and entitlement support
  • Preliminary site assessment and PV Array layouts
  • Civil Engineering Design for Ground Mounted Solar PV Facilities including:
    • Erosion Control Design
    • Detailed Grading/Earthwork Analysis
    • Stormwater/Hydrology Analysis 
  • Internal/External multi-disciplinary collaboration
  • Client/Project Management


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of applicable work experience strongly preferred
  • EIT Certification
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, and/or GIS


Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of CFR 49 Part 190-195
  • Knowledge of natural gas systems, solar industry and processes
