Kimley-Horn's Irving, Texas (TX) office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 4+ years of experience to join their Roadway team. This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
Manage construction phase services including contract administration and construction monitoring from pre-construction through project closeout consisting of municipal/private utility type projects
Construction administration responsibilities include client coordination, response to RFI’s, processing of change orders, shop drawing review, construction schedule and approval of contractor pay applications
Monitor single or multiple site construction activities for conformance with project plans and specifications
Prepare field reports and photos of construction activities and site investigations
Troubleshoot construction issues providing alternative solutions and value engineering in collaboration with engineering staff
Review bid documents and technical specifications
May provide construction observation training and mentoring of junior engineering staff
May conduct meetings with clients and contractors
Assist engineers with project permitting including permit applications and certifications
Qualifications
Bachelors degree and 4+ years of relevant experience
Construction/engineering field observation experience
Strong understanding of municipal/governmental agencies (TxDOT) specifications, details, and practices
Strong understanding of construction site safety practices
