Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Environmental Science graduates to join our Apple Valley, Minnesota office! This is not a remote position. 

 

  • This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team on a variety of multidisciplinary projects (commercial development, renewable energy, power delivery, roadway, utilities, planning, etc.) 
  • Our team is responsible for multiple levels of environmental due diligence and permitting, and this role will be a support on these projects with opportunities to interface directly with clients and other stakeholders 
  • You will work closely and collaboratively with other industry-leading professionals, internal partners, agencies, various jurisdictions and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
  • Develop familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Natural Resources Due Diligence and Permitting and/or National Environmental Policy Act compliance
  • Some travel may be required (approximately 10-20%) for site visits, client meetings and/or professional development opportunites.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelors or Masters Degree in relevant majors including Biology, Environmental Science, or related majors by December 2026 
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience, including field work, data collection, and preparation of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)
  • Ability to assess sites for Business Environmental Risks (BERs) and Recognized Environmental Conditions (REC), and provide technical and practical guidance and solutions to clients and stakeholders
  • Strong technical writing skills and experience writing detailed technical reports 
  • Working knowledge and strong interest in ArcGIS
  • Desire to work in both an office environment and in the field
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel for projects as needed
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented team player with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Desire to learn new skills, markets and project types
  • Strong technical and organizational skills
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced work environment as well as the ability to manage and prioritize several assignments concurrently and meet deadlines
  • Preferred qualifications: 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, OSHA 10 or OSHA 40 training, ASTM or CERCLA training, and experience with groundwater and soil sampling, environmental data review, or related field investigation

Salary: $76,500-$80,000
