Overview

Kimley-Horn's Pleasanton office is seeking a Structural Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Structures team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design for solar panel racking systems, carports, canopies, ground-mounted structures, and related infrastructure.
  • Evaluate structural components for code compliance, material selection, and safety standards.
  • Generate construction drawings, specifications, and 3D models using AutoCAD, Revit, or related software.
  • Analyze existing structures for solar retrofit applications, including load testing and structural reinforcements.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, civil engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of design components.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess construction progress and adherence to design documents.
  • Review geotechnical reports and coordinate with civil teams to design efficient foundation systems.
  • Manage client relationships and communicate design solutions effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay current with building codes, solar industry standards, and emerging technologies in renewable energy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure within one year of hire.
  • 4+ years of experience in structural design and analysis; experience in solar structures is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in structural design tools (STAAD, RISA, SAP2000, etc.) and drafting software (AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Strong understanding of building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI) and renewable energy-specific standards.
  • Effective communication skills and a proven ability to work within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Salary Range:

$120,000 to $155,000
