Overview

Kimley-Horn is seeking a dynamic Production Applications Manager to join and lead our IT team in our San Mateo, California (CA) office! This is not a remote position. 

Responsibilities

This role is ideal for a creative, relationship-driven professional who thrives at the intersection of production, IT, and software development. You will guide teams, foster innovation, and drive efficiency across our firm by collaborating with leading software vendors and internal stakeholders.

  • Guide and influence relationships with primary software vendors (Autodesk, Bentley, Esri, Bluebeam, Nearmap, LandFX, and others).
  • Lead development teams to streamline production processes, gather requirements, prioritize needs, and deliver solutions—whether in-house or in partnership with vendors.
  • Champion innovation by promoting ideas that optimize efficiency, increase quality, and enable informed decision-making across the firm.
  • Foster collaboration between Production and IT, acting as a translator and facilitator to achieve shared goals.
  • Provide technical leadership, offering oversight and direction based on production needs, estimating impact, and connecting technologies to enhance workflows.
  • Support training initiatives, especially onboarding for new hires and interns, and provide guidance to senior software leaders.
  • Plan and execute strategies for upskilling staff, troubleshooting outages, and implementing preventative measures.
  • Facilitate solving complex problems with multiple stakeholders and internal experts to derive solutions that fit the needs of our staff and our clients.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field), or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience leading development teams and managing vendor relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a creative approach to overcoming challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with a track record of working across departments.
  • Programming background preferred; ability to “connect the dots” between technologies and workflows.
  • Experience in training, onboarding, and supporting technical staff.

 

Salary range:

$220,000 - $225,000
Eligible for Performance Based Bonus Compensation
