Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for an experienced water/wastewater (W/WW) Business Development & Marketing Specialist to join our team in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX. The primary focus of this role would be to increase the firm’s visibility and presence in water/wastewater industry with emphasis on holistic brand-building and strategic growth for the market.

Responsibilities

  • The primary purpose of this role is to be a catalyst for growth of Kimley-Horn's local W/WW practice.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients, industry contacts, and engineering consultants.
  • Be informed, organize and coordinate firm participation in professional societies, events, and conferences.
  • Support early-career professionals in developing marketing strategies and expanding their networks.
  • Coach and guide staff on public-facing activities, such as conference presentations and industry panels.
  • Act as a liaison between market intelligence and proposal teams, providing strategic insights for major pursuits  
  • Help synthesize market feedback and client needs into actionable strategies for practice and marketing teams.
  • Assist with identification, relationship building, pursuit, and proposal strategy for various targeted clients and projects.
  • Assist in business development activities to ensure suitable, profitable new business is captured.
  • Research business opportunities and assist in strategy development.
  • Mine opportunities and be informed on latest industry trends, market opportunities, and client updates.
  • Positively represent Kimley-Horn via active engagement in networking events, activities, and organizations.
  • Partner with the regional Marketing team to ensure proper support for project managers.
  • Favorably position the firm for existing and future market opportunities.
  • Manage multiple concurrent time sensitive deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years in the DFW W/WW industry with extensive professional connections.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, English, Engineering or a similar field.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal working hours.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel (as required) for business needs.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (preferred but not required).
  • Proven track record of business development, client acquisition, and industry engagement.
  • Experience supporting large, strategic pursuits and differentiating firm capabilities in competitive settings.
  • Strong positive W/WW industry reputation.
  • Mentor and drive staff participation in industry activities.
  • Flexible and adaptable to evolving market needs and internal processes.
  • Proven track record of working in teams and providing a collaborative environment, and consensus building with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to gather, interpret, and convey technical information.
