Overview

Kimley-Horn's Los Angeles, California (CA) office is seeking a Environmental Planner with 2+ years of experience to join their Environmental Planning team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an Environmental Planner with 2+ years of experience specializing in Air Quality and Noise (AQN) to join our environmental team. The successful candidate will assist in various projects, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and implementing sustainable practices.

 

Key Responsibilities:

    1. Technical Support:

      • Assist in conducting air quality and noise impact assessments, analyses, and modeling.
      • Help develop strategies and mitigation measures to minimize environmental impacts.
    2. Report Preparation:

      • Prepare technical reports, environmental impact assessments, and documentation.
      • Assist with the preparation of regulatory permits and compliance documentation.
    3. Field Work:

      • Participate in field studies and data collection activities related to air quality and noise.
      • Conduct site visits to support monitoring and data gathering efforts.
    4. Regulatory Compliance:

      • Assist in ensuring that projects comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and standards.
      • Stay updated with changes in environmental regulations and industry best practices.
    5. Stakeholder Engagement:

      • Support communication efforts by preparing presentations, summaries, and responses for clients and regulatory agencies.
      • Attend public consultations, hearings, and meetings as needed.
    6. Data Analysis:

      • Analyze data collected from field studies and monitoring activities.
      • Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other relevant software for environmental analysis.

Qualifications

  • Degree (Bachelors or Masters) in Environmental Planning (or other degree applicable to the planning field)
  • 2+ years of experience in environmental planning, with a focus on air quality and noise.
  • American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP) Certification Preferred
  • Experience with a wide range of tasks related to environmental planning
  • Strong understanding of environmental laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., NEPA, CEQA, Clean Air Act, Noise Control Act).
  • Experience with NEPA compliance is a plus
  • Strong writing/verbal skills
  • Working knowledge of GIS/ArcView
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team

Salary Range

$90,000 - $110,000
