Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Planning graduates to join our Austin North, Texas (TX) office focusing on Transportation in 2026! This is not a remote position.  

Responsibilities

  • Work with large transportation datasets (big data, travel behavior data, network data) to perform technical analysis using Python, GIS, and related tools.
  • Assist in building and maintaining Python-based analytical tools and automated workflows that support scenario planning and performance-based evaluation.
  • Prepare high-quality visuals, maps, charts, and storytelling graphics that communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Conduct spatial analysis and mapping in ArcGIS to evaluate multimodal networks, travel markets, and land use conditions. 
  • Participate in public and stakeholder outreach, including preparing materials, summarizing feedback, and supporting virtual and in-person engagement events.
  • Apply strong critical-thinking skills to evaluate data limitations, identify meaningful insights, and propose alternative approaches when needed.
  • Demonstrate initiative by proactively identifying opportunities to improve workflows, enhance analysis, or deepen understanding of emerging transportation issues.
  • Support team leadership by helping coordinate tasks, maintaining project organization, and ensuring high-quality deliverables. 

Qualifications

A Bachelors or Masters degree from an accredited program by Summer of 2026 in these majors:  

  • City and Regional Planning
  • Urban Planning
  • Transportation Planning 
  • Computer Science
  • Other Related Major
