Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for an Experienced Cadworx Designer for our Natural Gas team in Virigina Beach. This is not a remote position. 

Responsibilities

  • The person in this position will make and quality check drawings and plans of substantial complexity and may perform some multifaceted calculations
  • Develop intelligent 3D models of piping, steel, and equipment layouts using CADWorx and AutoCAD Plant 3D 
  • Generate PFDs, P&IDs, fabrication drawings, and modular skid designs 
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure designs meet project specifications and industry standards 
  • Perform design reviews and redlining using CADWorx Design Review Professional 
  • Maintain drawing/database connectivity and ensure synchronization between project databases and drawings 
  • Identify and resolve potential design conflicts, including utility clashes and installation constraints
  • Perform quality control checks and provide feedback to team members
  • Requires minimal supervision to perform day to day tasks
  • Has knowledge of engineering principles and suggests design changes
  • Maintains drawing database
  • May supervise and train CAD staff
  • Develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards

Qualifications

  • High School Degree (Preferred Associates Degree (or higher) with emphasis on Drafting and Design Technology from an accredited technical institution or college in engineering)
  • 3+ years experience in Cadworx Plant Professional for piping and equipment modeling
  • Must be proficient in using AutoCAD and Bluebeam
  • Strong understanding of piping layout standards and construction practices
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize projects and tasks
  • Experience in creating CAD tools and symbol databases
