Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for a Civil Analyst - Roadway to join our Kansas City, Missouri (MO) office in 2026! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment. Contribute to the pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects ranging in size and scope. Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards. Develop knowledge of local municipal and state DOT standards. Support plan production, project financials, and client interactions. This position requires 10% domestic travel. Remote work from home acceptable as projects permit within reasonable commuting distance of the Kansas City, MO office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited university in the field of Civil Engineering and no stated experience.

Also requires education, training, or experience in the following:

  • "Engineer-In-Training" or "Engineering Intern" certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months);
  • University coursework utilizing technical software such as Autodesk CAD, Microstation, and RISA-3D to produce civil engineering designs;
  • Exposure to coursework focused on roadway and transportation engineering;
  • Successful completion of a senior design project leading the transportation component of the project, including utilizing the technical software HCS 2010 to conduct a traffic impact study;
  • Familiarity with Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets (the Green Book) standards;
  • Experience as an Undergraduate research assistant supporting various civil engineering request; and
  • Membership and involvement with local ASCE chapter during university curriculum, including participation at the regional Student Symposium.
