Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for a Human Resources (HR) Coordinator to join our Orange, CA office on our HR team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct new hire orientations and associated integration tasks to ensure a positive onboarding experience.
  • Administer the performance check-in process, including sending automated reminders, tracking completion rates against established deadlines, and analyzing data to identify common themes and other needs.
  • Process approved classification changes accurately within the HRIS, ensuring correct payroll settings, benefits eligibility, and proper documentation of the change reason based on current federal and California state wage and hour laws.
  • Coordinate training enrollments, attendance, and track participation rates, ensuring equitable access to development opportunities across the region.
  • Serve as a co-facilitator or lead certain training modules, engaging participants and fostering an interactive learning environment for various HR or professional development topics.
  • Collaborate with HR Partners to conduct and communicate termination process including departure paperwork, exit interviews, and filing of personnel documents.
  • Process employee workflow changes or updates in the HRIS, including but not limited to, new hire information, class changes, supervisor changes, and termination information.
  • Perform regular audits of HRIS system to ensure accuracy of employee information.
  • Review and track employee licensure process and associated job updates.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable and approachable first point of contact for a wide range of employee inquiries related to benefits, payroll, HR policies, leave requests, and general HR processes.
  • Collaborate with HR Partners on general employee relations concerns, performance management, team building, complaint/conflict resolution, career development, and training facilitation.
  • Provide guidance, training, support and back-up coverage to the HR Assistant.
  • Support special projects that have region-wide and/or company-wide impact.
  • Proactively monitor and research changes in California's complex labor laws, including but not limited to wage and hour regulations, leave laws (e.g., CFRA, PFL), discrimination, and harassment prevention requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Two to three years of related HR experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in the HR profession, which may include relevant internship and/or post-graduate work, a plus.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn new software applications.
  • Experience with UKG Pro or other HRIS a plus.
  • Ability to travel to the regional offices.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective; relationships with employees across various levels and groups.
  • Strong time management skills; capable of managing and balancing multiple tasks/priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency, ownership, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members within the region, as well as across the company.
  • Experience in maintaining compliance with applicable California employment laws.

Salary Range: $75,000-$80,000
