Overview

Kimley-Horn's Everett, Washington (WA) office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 6+ years of experience to join their Transportation Planning and Traffic team! This is not a remote position.

 

The ideal candidate will bring 6+ years of progressive experience in traffic engineering, be well-versed in preparing Traffic Impact Analyses (TIAs), and demonstrate hands-on design experience with Civil 3D. Proficiency with traffic modeling tools like VISSIM and Synchro is a strong plus.We are seeking a skilled and licensed Traffic Engineer with strong experience in the Washington market.

Responsibilities

  • Lead traffic engineering and project management efforts for diverse projects including transportation planning, transit, traffic operations, safety, and ITS

  • Prepare and review Traffic Impact Analyses (TIAs), traffic signal warrant studies, and traffic operations analysis

  • Manage projects profitably with a hands-on approach to delivery while mentoring junior staff and transitioning work effectively

  • Utilize tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D for roadway and traffic design; VISSIM and Synchro experience is a strong plus

  • Partner with internal teams, clients, and agencies to deliver high-quality, responsive solutions

  • Contribute to marketing and business development efforts by building strong relationships and pursuing new opportunities aligned with your passions

  • Collaborate closely with jurisdictions, contractors, and cross-disciplinary teams to ensure smooth project execution

  • Help foster a team environment focused on growth, inclusion, and technical excellence

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington (or ability to obtain within 12 months)

  • 6+ years of traffic engineering experience with familiarity in Washington-specific standards and practices

  • Strong experience preparing Traffic Impact Analyses (TIAs)

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred)

  • Experience with Synchro and VISSIM (bonus)

  • Proven ability to manage projects, mentor others, and work effectively in a collaborative environment

  • Excellent communication skills and a relationship-building mindset

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to grow your own practice within a thriving transportation planning and traffic team

Salary Range:

  • $115,000 - $150,000
