Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for students to join the Grants Writing/Administration team join our Gainesville, Florida (FL) office! This is not a remote position. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities of a Grants Writing/Administration Intern include identifying, locating, applying for, and administering grants on behalf of a local government, agency, or organization (collectively, the “Client”). Funding sources may include Federal, State, and Local agencies, as well other sources such as Legislative Appropriations, foundations, or other third-party organizations. This funding may be used for a variety of development purposes and projects. 
    Job duties include:
    • Assisting in the establishment of organizational tools to facilitate grant management
    • Maintaining the annual program calendar for strategic business planning (identifying clients, project, and grants that align and proposing targeted outreach to internal partners and clients)
    • Researching and being fluent in the requirements of a wide variety of grants and third-party funding opportunities
    • Coordination with internal partners at Kimley-Horn regarding technical aspects of the application requirements
    • Development of funding applications including online data entry
    • Completing funding-specific reports such as a client project dashboard
    • Coordinating with the Kimley-Horn marketing team for graphics and support
    • Managing grant submittals as requested on behalf of the client
    • Other similar duties as may be assigned
    • May also be responsible for compliance and reporting to the funding organization as may be outlined in the funding contract between the client and the funder.

Qualifications

  • In the process of receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, English, Public Administration, Planning, Business, Communications, Marketing, or other related program.
  • Courses in grant writing, administration, and management a plus.
  • Business development and marketing experience including writing proposals, scopes of work, and budgeting for projected work.
  • Ability to effectively communicate positively at all levels of the organization.
