Overview

Kimley-Horn's Raleigh, North Carolina (NC) office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Structures team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead parking structure design projects from concept through construction, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to budget and schedule.

  • Develop comprehensive structural drawings and technical specifications for parking facilities, including new construction, renovations, and repairs, with minimal guidance.

  • Train and mentor Engineers-In-Training (EITs) in structural engineering principles specific to parking structures, including material selection, load analysis, and durability considerations.

  • Perform structural analysis and design calculations for reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, and steel parking structures while overseeing plan production and project documentation.

  • Implement and maintain a Quality Control program to ensure compliance with industry standards, building codes, and best practices for parking structure design and maintenance.

  • Lead and support construction phase services, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, performing site visits, and providing technical guidance for parking structure projects.

  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams, contributing to project meetings, presentations, and value engineering discussions.

  • Identify new project opportunities by networking with current and potential clients and staying informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes affecting parking structures.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant engineering design experience
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Knowledge and experience in AutoCAD, Revit, and Sketchup with some ability to produce drawings and details, when needed
  • Knowledge and experience in structural analysis and design software, such as STAAD, RAM, E-Tabs, MathCAD, TEDDS, ADAPT PT, and other structural related design software
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-discipline to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to multi-task and work on a variety of projects concurrently
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and technical skills with a continuous mindset on personal and staff development
  • Positive, can-do attitude and a strong work ethic
