Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for a Public Engagement Specialist in the St. Paul, Minnesota (MN) office! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Creating content for in-person and/or online communications and engagement activities including but not limited to:
    • talking points
    • web content
    • social media messaging
    • construction notifications
    • presentations
    • display boards and handouts
    • other similar communication and engagement materials
  • The ability to self-check for quality as part of our QC process
  • Create, edit and produce public-facing documents and communications content
  • Support the development and facilitation of events, including public open houses, workshops, public hearings, neighborhood meetings, groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, virtual meetings, conferences, one-on-one meetings, stakeholder meetings, and other public events
  • Develop reports, documents, and spreadsheets using Microsoft Suite applications
  • Balance and manage multiple tasks and priorities with ease

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in the field of urban planning, communications or a related field or related degree
  • 1+ years’ experience communicating and engaging with the public during the planning, design or construction phases of public infrastructure and/or transportation projects. Entry level candidates with intern or other applicable experience will be considered.
  • Experience in preparing communications and engagement materials
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Commitment to producing high quality work, with an emphasis on attention to detail
  • Experience with MS Office software suite
  • Self-motivated team player
  • Ability to work with and balance priorities among multiple projects and provide clear direction to other team members
  • Flexibility to travel to other cities and office locations as needed for projects
  • Familiarity with multiple cultures and diverse perspectives is a plus

Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000
