Overview

Kimley-Horn's Alpharetta, Georgia (GA) office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 7+ years of experience to join their Structures team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

Assist with management and leading of structural engineering projects. Design vertical structures such as parking garages, buildings, and other miscellaneous structures. Produce structural calculations, plans, details, corresponding with internal and external clients and government agencies, attending meetings related to current and upcoming projects, and helping train and develop junior/entry level staff. Complete vertical structural designs using applicable modeling software applications including: RAM Structural Systems, Concept, ETABS, Enercalc, RAM Elements, and Revit. Support and participate in meetings and presentations with clients, contractors, and design team members. Utilize knowledge of local building codes and requirements to deliver to clients in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s clients standards. This position requires 10% domestic travel. Periodic work from home is permitted on occasion within reasonable commuting distance of the Alpharetta, GA office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field of study and seven (7) years of experience as a Civil Engineer, Project Engineer or related role where required experience gained.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree in stated fields and seven (7) years of stated experience, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field of study and five (5) years of experience as a Civil Engineer, Project Engineer or related role where required experience gained.
  • Structural Engineer license required;
  • Vertical structure designs using industry standard building design software (RAM Structural Systems, Concept, ETABS, Enercalc, RAM Elements, etc.);
  • Modeling software, Revit;
  • Managing and mentoring teams of engineers or support staff;
  • Performing structural design calculations, plan production activities, and preparing projects;
  • Building structure design (steel, conventionally reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, precast, mass timber, wood framing, masonry, etc.); and
  • Knowledge of local building codes and requirements.
