Overview

Kimley-Horn's Greenwood Village, Colorado (CO) office is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer, or Analyst, with 3+ years of experience to join their Power Delivery team. This is not a remote position.

 

We are seeking experienced engineers and enthusiastic EITs to support long-term Power Delivery Team program growth.

Responsibilities

  • Design of Power Delivery Infrastructure systems including transmission lines, distribution lines, and substations
  • Perform structural analysis and design of monopole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures
  • Lead project teams in an active production role
  • Lead project meetings internally and externally with clients
  • Preparation of conceptual and detailed calculations to support the creation of construction documents and specifications. These calculations may include, foundation design, material quantities, and design of overhead power structures.
  • Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines
  • Coordination and verification of as-built drawings
  • Perform quality work that promotes client retention
  • Responsible for the development of reports and design documents

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of design experience in engineering specifically in any of the following: transmission, distribution, or communication line design
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (advanced degrees are a plus)
  • PE or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Ideal candidate is passionate about learning and is curious and adaptable
  • The right attitude is valued over a particular skill set
  • Ability to focus and work on creative solutions to engineering problems
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment effectively
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment

Ideal Qualifications

  • Understanding of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), Rural Utility Service (RUS) Electrical Bulletins, ASCE-7, or California General Order 95, and other ASCE/IEEE/CIGRE standards
  • Ability to design structures using multiple materials
  • Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD) 
  • Transmission Line Modeling (PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole) experience is a plus
  • Experience with lattice towers is a plus

Salary Range:

  • $90,000.00 - $130,000.00
  • Eligible for Performance Based Bonus Compensation
