Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for an experienced CAD Operator to join our Roadway team in Austin North, Texas, (TX)!

Responsibilities

  • The candidate will develop concepts as well as work on preliminary engineering and final design for projects
    • This would include developing geometric alignments, profiles, surface modeling, cross sections, grading design, drainage, superelevation, construction details, work zone traffic control, erosion control, and signing and striping plans
  • This person will develop technical drawings and plans using Microstation and OpenRoads
  • Manage support documentation for sheet indexes, quantity tables, and cost estimates
  • Manage TxDOT CAD standards
  • Make and quality check drawings and plans of substantial complexity and may perform some multifaceted calculations
  • Has knowledge of engineering principles and suggests design changes
  • Maintain good file management per Kimley-Horn's file structure and naming conventions
  • Coordinates work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associates degree preferred)
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Bentley products (including Microstation, OpenRoads, GeoPak, and ProjectWise) preferred
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
