Overview

Kimley-Horn's Sacramento, CA office is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Electrical team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Design of electrical systems including solar, battery storage, and electric vehicle charging
  • Delegate tasks to junior staff or other team members
  • QA/QC design documents
  • Review, comment and approve equipment submittalsp4
  • Respond to RFI’s
  • Conduct or oversee power system studies such as short circuit, thermal ampacity, and load flow
  • Technical problem solving and resolving
  • Participate on project teams in an active production role
  • Participate in project meetings internally and externally with clients
  • Preparation of project specifications
  • Support senior staff with preparing electrical design cost estimates and proposals
  • Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines
  • Coordination and verification of as-built drawings
  • Perform quality work that promotes client retention
  • Responsible for the development of reports and design documents, including solar photovoltaic electrical site plans, equipment selection, photovoltaic module string sizing calculations, ampacity calculations and wire sizing

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of design experience in electrical engineering specifically in any of the following: Solar PV design, Battery energy storage, or energy modeling
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (advanced degrees are a plus)
  • PE or ability to obtain within 1 year
  • Understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, and energy codes
  • Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD) 
  • Previous experience with solar production modeling is a plus
  • Previous experience with electrical solar photovoltaic design or battery storage is a plus
  • Passion for renewables
  • Electrical Power System Studies, Electrical lighting, and fire alarm design experience desired
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment

Salary Range: 

$130,000 - $180,000
