We are seeking a Senior Mechanical OR Electrical Engineer to join our Dallas office. This individual will be a motivated professional with 10+ years of experience who will lead junior staff and oversee mechanical or electrical design from concept through construction documents and construction administration. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required. 

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have experience managing project teams and clients in an engineering consulting environment, specifically within Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) projects and the healthcare industry. 

 

  • Senior Mechanical or Electrical Engineer role in conjunction with lead engineer responsibilities, including the ability to serve as the Engineer of Record (EOR) 
  • Ability to serve as the project manager, overseeing MEP design execution for various healthcare projects is a plus. 
  • Lead project teams in delivering high-quality, cost-effective, and timely solutions 
  • Prepare cost proposals and administer project contracts, including add service agreements 
  • Write responses to Requests for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications for various clients and marketing opportunities 
  • Collaborate with various departments, disciplines, and subconsultants to plan and manage project resources efficiently 
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, ensuring project execution aligns with industry standards 
  • Manage the full project lifecycle, from conceptual design through completion 
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national codes and regulations 
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and contractors 
  • Perform quality control reviews of MEP system designs, calculations, and drawings 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in MEP design for healthcare projects within an engineering consulting environment 
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems 
  • Experience with design software such as Revit BIM, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, and Easypower 
  • Proficiency in national and local building codes, including NEC, State Energy Codes, NFPA guidelines, and FGI guidelines 
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Experience conducting electrical system studies (e.g., short circuit, over-current device coordination, Arc Flash Hazard analysis per NFPA 70E) is a plus (For electrical engineers only) 
  • A PE license is mandatory, along with strong program management experience  
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability 
  • Experience with mentoring and coordinating the work of designers and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects
