Overview

Kimley-Horn has an opportunity for a motivated Electrical CAD Designer/Operator to join our Electrical practice in Long Beach, California!

Responsibilities

  • This individual will primarily be responsible for: designing and producing sets of plans for electrical systems including, electrical vehicle charging and building electrical

  • Participate on project teams in an active production role

  • Participate in project meetings internally and externally with clients

  • Preparation of project specifications

  • Preparation of electrical construction cost estimates

  • Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines

  • Perform quality work that promotes client retention

  • Responsible for the development of reports and design documents, including photovoltaic electrical site plans, equipment selection, photovoltaic module string sizing calculations, ampacity calculations and wire sizing

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associates degree preferred)

  • 3+ years of design experience in Electrical Engineering specifically in any of the following:

  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD

  • Understanding of the National Electrical code, other NFPA codes/standards, energy codes

  • Building Information Modeling (BIM-Autodesk Revit) experience is a plus

  • Knowledge and understanding of Microstation experience is a plus

  • Electrical power, lighting and fire alarm design experience

  • The ability to work independently or in team environment effectively

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment

  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter

  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and a desire to learn

  • Ability to work independently and with a team

Salary Range: 

$60,000 to $80,000
