Overview

Kimley-Horn's Twin Cities office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 1+ years of experience to join their Transportation/Traffic team with a focus on design (e.g., traffic signal, lighting, ITS, signing and pavement marking, and traffic control).

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic engineering and management tasks to deliver a wide variety of transportation projects (e.g., roadway, transit, trail/multimodal, and airport) for many, diverse clients
  • Engage in hands-on practice and delivery of projects
  • Transition work to qualified staff
  • Assist with managing their tasks and projects profitably
  • Act as a positive leader and mentor
  • As a critical member of the team, you will perform a variety of engineering tasks and will receive both on-the-job and formal training as well as mentorship and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interaction

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of traffic engineering experience that could include:
    • Traffic signal design
    • Traffic control design
    • Signing and pavement marking design
    • Traffic operations analysis
    • Traffic impact studies
    • Lighting design
    • ITS design
  • Bachelors or Masters from an ABET accredited university in the field of Civil Engineering
  • "Engineer-In-Training" or "Engineering Intern" certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Experience using OpenRoads (MicroStation) and or AutoCAD Civil 3D, SignCAD, Synchro, VISSIM, and/or other traffic analysis software applications
  • Communicating technical thoughts clearly and concisely
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team

We will hire and train the right applicate if they do not have specific traffic experience if they want to pursue a career in traffic engineering.
