Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for an Electrical Designer to join our power and energy team in Atlanta, Georgia (GA)! You will be working on cutting edge technologies including solar, battery energy storage, and electrical vehicles in our growing electrical department.

Responsibilities

  • The person in this position will use computer drafting software to generate site plans and construction drawings for Kimley-Horn projects
  • Designing and producing sets of plans; implementing and managing AutoCAD drafting and plan preparation standards
  • Utilize AutoCAD to create construction documents and perform quantity takeoffs, including site layouts, wire/cable routing plans, construction details, single line diagrams, equipment, and conduit details
  • Develop an understanding of NEC and keep up with emerging technologies
  • Create cable and wiring schedule-based takeoffs and sizing input from design partners
  • Develop familiarity with and improve upon Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members throughout the production process

Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
  • Associate Degree or Technical School Certificate in Electrical Design, Solar Design, Architectural/Engineering Drafting, or related degree 2-5 years of experience in the drafting/design of electrical power/distribution systems
  • Proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products preferred. Must have proficiency in AutoCAD and working knowledge of NEC
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience and knowledge of basic electrical design concepts preferred
  • Working knowledge and ability to read construction drawings and specifications
  • NABCEP Certification preferred
  • Experience with PVcase, PVsyst, Helioscope, SAM, or other PV production modeling software preferred
