Overview

We are looking for a Civil Engineer join our Hydraulics/Hydrology team to join our team in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

This position will support our growing water resources practice. The successful candidate can expect to work in a dynamic team environment on a range of projects including surface water management studies, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, analysis and design, flood studies, bridge hydraulics, green infrastructure planning and design. Our ideal candidate will have three or more years of surface water experience supporting private and/or public sector projects.

 

 

  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling.
  • BMP/green infrastructure design and modeling.
  • Preparing H&H studies, drainage reports, design documents, and design plans and specifications for water resources projects.
  • Technical writing in the form of memorandums, feasibility studies, regulatory submittals, and master plans.
  • Assisting with developing scopes of work and associated budgets.
  • Watershed master planning, stormwater master planning.
  • Report or planning level documents CIP development.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering.
  • Current P.E. registration in the State of Illinois or the ability to obtain within 6 months. 
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience in surface water modeling and/or design.
  • GIS experience modeling.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HydroCAD, SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, and other related hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and design software.
  • Experience building and calibrating H&H models such as ICPR4, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), and SWMM.
  • Experience developing watershed models.
  • Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS (ArcHydro experience a plus).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated; sense of urgency to produce high quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the potential/desire to lead a practice and manage clients and a team.
