Overview

Kimley-Horn's Seattle, Washington, (WA) office is seeking a Civil Engineer to join their Transportation Team! This candidate will be responsible for providing expertise and guidance in the field of transportation planning and traffic operations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, and project management. Join our team of passionate professionals and make a difference in shaping the future of transportation planning and traffic operations!

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic engineering, project management, and delivery of a wide range of transportation planning, transit, traffic engineering, safety, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) projects for diverse clients
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit by envisioning personal practice growth and contributing to the growth of our established transportation engineering practice
  • Manage projects profitably, engage in hands-on practice and project delivery, delegate work to qualified staff, and act as a positive leader and mentor
  • Contribute significantly to marketing and business development efforts, with the autonomy to pursue personal passions, leads, and clients
  • Collaborate closely with a team of engineers, planning professionals, and designers on various projects
  • Work collaboratively with industry-leading professionals, jurisdictions, and contractors
  • Lead and manage transportation planning and traffic operations projects from start to finish, ensuring high-quality deliverables, timely completion, and client satisfaction
  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis to develop transportation plans, traffic impact studies, and traffic operations strategies
  • Utilize industry-standard software and tools for traffic flow modeling, data analysis, and generating recommendations to improve traffic operations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, planners, and designers to develop innovative and sustainable transportation solutions
  • Provide expert technical guidance and support to clients and stakeholders on transportation planning and traffic operations matters
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, regulations, and best practices in transportation planning and traffic operations
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff, offering guidance and support for their professional development

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant engineering/planning experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering and design, traffic operations, and/or ITS planning and design 
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License in state of Washington (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Proficiency in Synchro, HCS, and/or Vissim software applications preferred
  • Ability to work in a team environment, balance priorities among multiple projects, and effectively communicate and collaborate at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to manage and mentor staff, and direct resources effectively in a positive manner
  • Ability to provide high-quality deliverables with exceptional client service
  • Business development and marketing experience including writing proposals, developing scopes of work, and assembling budgets for projected work

Salary Range:

  • $95,000 - $135,000
  • Eligible for Performance Based Bonus Compensation
