Kimley-Horn's is seeking a Mechanical Engineer-In-Training with 2+ years of experience to join the Fort Worth, Texas (TX) office!

Our MEP team at Kimley-Horn is looking for strong individuals and future thought leaders who are passionate about partnering with our clients to develop holistic state-of-the-art solutions to reduce building energy consumption, increase reliability and improve overall system efficiencies as we move toward a more sustainable future.  You will be joining a team who is focused on solving the most complex challenges across several industries and delivering projects of various sizes ranging from small commercial and retail buildings to utility scale campuses, cities, airports, advanced manufacturing facilities and data centers.  This opportunity provides the chance to be at the forefront addressing some of the world’s largest headwinds around reliability and developing unique solutions that will have an impact on many generations to come.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
  • Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
  • Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Perform general mechanical engineering tasks supporting various project managers as required.
  • Support our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing team specifically working on both building scale and large-scale mechanical utility systems.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant design or consulting experience for building mechanical systems (HVAC/plumbing) and/or Central Utility Plants and Thermal Distribution Systems (Chilled water, hot water, steam and domestic water)
  • Ability to navigate and interpret local, state and national codes and standards 
  • An ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) in Mechanical Engineering
  • EIT/EI certification or have the ability to obtain certification 
  • Excellent verbal and technical writing communication
  • Ability to apply technical skills to meet project demands and solve problems for our clients
  • Positive attitude and an impressive work ethic
  • Clear sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet deadlines
  • Attention to details and ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Passion and demonstrated drive to achieve goals
  • Proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD
