Overview

Kimley-Horn's San Jose, California office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 3+ years of experience to join our Transportation/Traffic team. This is an in-office position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic engineering and project management tasks to deliver a wide variety of transportation planning, transit, traffic engineering, safety, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) projects for diverse clients.
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit by creating a vision for personal practice growth while contributing to the growth of our transportation practice.
  • Assist in managing projects to ensure profitability.
  • Engage in hands-on practice and project delivery.
  • Transition work to qualified staff members.
  • Act as a positive leader and mentor.
  • Contribute significantly to marketing and business development efforts, with the autonomy to pursue personal leads and clients.
  • Perform a variety of engineering tasks and receive on-the-job and formal training, as well as mentorship and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an ABET-accredited university in Civil Engineering.
  • Holds "Engineer-In-Training" or "Engineering Intern" certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of traffic engineering experience, including preparing and/or reviewing traffic impact studies, parking studies, and site access and circulation studies.
  • Familiarity with the traffic forecast process.
  • Experience using Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, and/or other traffic analysis software applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary Range: 

$90,000 - $125,000
