Overview

Kimley-Horn's Raleigh, North Carolina (NC) office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Roadway team! This person will support CEI - Construction Engineering Inspections. This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will represent our client’s interest providing excellent construction administration services for a wide variety of Transportation and Municipal projects
  • Conduct construction observations to ensure compliance with approved contract documents.  Knowledge of drawings, specifications, and client engineering standards will serve to provide exceptional oversight as our owner’s representative
  • Will work with Project Inspectors to create, issue, and maintain Construction Administration documents such as material testing reports, RFI's, Change Orders, daily diaries, monthly pay applications, and final project documentation, etc.
  • Review, confirm, and recommend monthly contractor payment applications, against measured and observed contract bid items provided by Project Inspectors
  • Represent the owner in daily contractor project communication and correspondence
  • Review all testing reports as required within the contract documents, in accordance with Federal, State, and Municipal guidelines
  • Organize and participate in Pre-Bid, Pre-Construction, and reoccurring construction meetings
    Perform project punch lists and final documentation in accordance with Federal, State, and Municipal guidelines

Qualifications

  • EIT or PE license
  • 3 or more years of engineering experience
  • Experience in Public Transportation and Municipal projects is preferred
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard design software such as Microstation, Open Roads, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D
  • Microsoft Office Suite software experience such as “Word”, “Excel”, etc.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, roadway design standards, and traffic engineering principles
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex engineering problems and develop effective solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely
  • A collaborative and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • An individual that is equally skilled at independently leading their own projects or serving as a valued team member within a complex mega project
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Commitment to staying updated on industry trends, regulations, and advancements in roadway engineering
