Overview

Our Virginia Beach, VA office is seeking an ambitious traffic engineer to support a variety of transportation projects for public and private sector clients in the Hampton Roads area. Kimley-Horn is celebrating 16 years as one of FORTUNE's 100 Best Companies to Work For.

Responsibilities

Our team is looking for a traffic engineer to support and deliver a wide variety of transportation planning and traffic engineering/operations projects for many, diverse clients. Typical projects may include traffic operations analyses, safety analyses, traffic impact studies, traffic signal coordination and timing, traffic signal design, transportation planning studies, multimodal transportation planning and design, parking analyses, and other transportation projects. Projects will provide opportunities for in-office and in-field work. These projects require the use of analysis software and programs, some described below. Strong written and oral communication skills are needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant program (i.e., civil engineering) and 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Passion for transportation planning, traffic operations, and transportation design
  • Experience performing traffic analyses and/or traffic engineering design
  • Intermediate software skills using most of the following software:
    • Synchro
    • HCS
    • ArcGIS
    • AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • Microstation
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Passion and demonstrated drive to achieve goals
  • Use of creativity to recommend solutions to challenging problems
  • Attention to detail to deliver high-quality and accurate deliverables
  • Ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet deadlines

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro to produce maps
